Schedule confirmed for OSCB Big Day of Learning 9th November

The schedule for the day has been finalised and includes: –

  • The impact of childhood trauma and journey to recovery with Dr Jenny Molloy – care leaver, patron of BASW England and the author of Hackney Child, Tainted Love and Neglected
  • An introduction to trauma awareness with Carmen Chan, Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for Horizon; Oxfordshire CAMHS
  • Screening of the Children in Care Council (CiCC) and Mandala Theatre film ‘Breaking the Shell’ followed by a Q & A with the CiCC and the film’s Director
  • An introduction to the neuroscience of development, looking at the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, how experiences shape our brains and the long-term implications for mental and physical health with the Oxford Brain Story
  • The initial findings of local research looking at the extent to which early adversity is a factor in children’s presentations across different services locally. The session will focus on how our systems can work better together to improve outcomes for children at an earlier point, with Emily Smout, Locality and Community Support Service Manager
