Independent Scrutineer and Chair

2-year temporary contract, working up to 60 days per annum

We are looking for a highly effective Independent Chair and Scrutineer who will bring enthusiasm and commitment to safeguarding children in Oxfordshire. This role requires an outstanding individual with proven experience of chairing complex meetings at a senior level, particularly in partnership settings, and who has a good operational and strategic understanding of the children’s safeguarding agenda. They will provide challenge and support to our statutory Local Authority, Integrated Care Service and Police partners, whilst ensuring all relevant organisations are safeguarding children and young people across Oxfordshire. The independent scrutiny of our approach and practice is to enable us to continue in building upon and developing our strong partnership arrangements.

We want the appointed Chair and Independent Scrutineer to help us continue to review and drive our arrangements in response to an ever-changing landscape. Safeguarding presents many challenges, many of which can be complex and demanding.  We have the desire to ensure our safeguarding practices remain robust, but we need to continually challenge and adapt.
