Free support for families and carers supporting a child or person with Autism

Date: Friday, 18th Aug 2023 | Category: General

Autism Central are offering a new free support project aimed at families and carers supporting a child or person of any age with Autism.

The peer education programme is a resource open to anyone including parents, carers, family members and personal assistants of autistic people. What makes the programme unique, is that it’s run by families for families.

Peer educators are family members or carers of autistic people and/or autistic themselves. Peer educators are trained to coach, signpost and share their learning with other parents and carers of autistic people.

Delivered in a variety of ways, including group and individual sessions, the focus will be on meeting the needs of autistic people and on signposting for access to local and national services. Sessions will be delivered in ways that suit local carers, either in person or online.

The project is run by leading not-for-profit organisations, supporting families and autistic people and has been commissioned by Health Education England. It has been set up to help parents/carers access information they can trust, all in one place. Our resources have been developed together with autistic people, parents and carers and subject matter experts, and follow the most recent research and guidance.

All support provided is free. For more information click here Autism Central Flier
