Book your place on the Violence against women and girls event on 2nd February 9.30-12.30

Date: Friday, 13th Jan 2023 | Category: General

The OSCB are running a free 1/2 day webinar on the Thursday 2nd of February focused on violence against women and girls, ahead of this years ‘Sexual Violence and Sexual Abuse Awareness Week’, which runs from 6-12 Feb.

Speakers for the event on the 2nd of Feb include Katy Barrow-Grint (Assistant Chief Constable, Thames Valley Police), Abi Wycherley (Violence Against Women and Girls Coordinator, Public Health and Community Safety, Oxfordshire County Council), Chloe Purcell (Director of SAFE!), Dot Pritchard (Project Manager, Oxford Against Cutting) and Fraser Franks (former professional footballer, current Ambassador for @AlcoholchangeUK and Director of B5 Consultancy),

The event will consider the impact social conditioning, mainstream and social media, including high profile influencers such as Andrew Tate, have on children and young people’s views around self-image, gender roles, stereotypes, masculinity and misogyny. Speakers will highlight ongoing work across the Oxfordshire safeguarding network to encourage everyone to individually and collectively take action to change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence, and to challenge and reframe harmful narratives.
