Area Safeguarding Groups (ASG)

The Area Safeguarding Groups (ASG) meet quarterly. They take place in the North, South and City areas and aim to channel the strategic priorities of OSCB and ensure they are understood and implemented at an operational level.

Over the last year they have focused on the following areas:

  • Promoting learning from Serious Case Reviews through members sharing recommendations at practitioner level, in team briefings and training.
  • Ensuring agencies are informed of, and understand developments, including new local and national policy guidance.
  • Ensuring information and local priorities agreed by the three Area Trust Groups, (including priorities from the Children and Young People’s Plan) is disseminated and addressed.
  • Ensuring all preventative work, including implementation of the Common Assessment Framework, (CAF) Team around the Child, (TAC) and Lead Professional approaches are embedded across all OSCB member agencies, plus facilitating case discussion and problem solving on a multi-agency basis.

Chair

The three current chairs are Noreen Collins for the South, Jane Bell for the City and Kate Riddle for the North
