What to do if you’re being bullied
Lots of people know bullying is happening, but don’t how why it happens, or what to do to stop it. To stop bullying we need to take action together. This means making sure everyone has the knowledge and support to stop bullying.
To successfully stop bullying and other conflicts, everyone needs to be involved. Schools and workplaces can help by setting up action plans and codes of conduct. For more detailed information on how to stop bullying, read Take action against bullying and In conflict with others?
The bully will need to learn to control their own stress and anxiety. They will also need to learn how make friends in different ways, and earn respect from people without resorting to verbal or physical violence. Sometimes they’ll need counselling, but usually it’s just a case of making the effort to be nice and consider other people’s feelings.
While it’s important to help them to stop, they must understand that they can’t get away with it.
