Learning Zone

OSCB monitors and scrutinises practice in Oxfordshire to ensure that learning is shared with the workforce to improve practice.

“Safeguarding partners should agree on ways to co-ordinate their safeguarding services; act as a strategic leadership group in supporting and engaging others; and implement local and national learning including from serious child safeguarding incidents… Learning is promoted and embedded in a way that local services for children and families can become more reflective and implement changes to practice”, Working Together 2018.

The OSCB helps to facilitate learning from practice to:

  • Establish whether there are lessons to be learned from cases, especially regarding the way in which local professionals and agencies work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • Identify clearly what those lessons are, how they will be acted on, and what is expected to change as a result
  • Improve inter-agency working to better safeguard children in Oxfordshire
